Plaza de Cataluña is one of the most important squares in Barcelona. It is strategically located, constituting a starting point to visit Las Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia, the old town, the Angel Gateway, Calle Pelayo and the University ring-roads on foot. With an area of 30,000 square metres, it is one of the largest squares in Spain.
Around the square there are numerous places to eat and shop, including a branch of the department store El Corte Inglés where you will find whatever you may need during your holiday. From its cafeteria, located on the top floor, you can enjoy matchless panoramic views of Plaza Cataluña.
Plaza Cataluña is a place full of life at any time of the day, making it an ideal place for shopping or to relax and enjoy watching the city go by. Furthermore, it is often used as a venue for concerts, exhibitions and other events.
As regards transport, there is no better place for public transport. It has two Metro lines, L1 and L3 (Plaza Cataluña station), 16 bus routes: 9, 14, 16, 17, 24, 28, 41, 42, 55, 58, 59, 62, 66, 67, 68, and 141 (stop in Plaza Cataluña), railway lines L6 and L7, a Tourist Bus stop and another for the bus that goes to and from the airport.
